Professional Biography
Dr. Jaliman studied internal medicine and interned at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in San Francisco, California. After earning her B.A. in Genetics and Bioethics from the University of Wisconsin in 1977, Dr. Jaliman then graduated from the State University of New York at Downstate Medical Center in 1981.
From 1982 to 1985, Doctor Jaliman served her post-graduate residency in dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. Dr. Jaliman received her New York State License in Medicine and Surgery in 1982 and attained her board certification in 1985 from the American Academy of Dermatology.
Since 1988, Dr. Jaliman has been a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Jaliman has also maintained membership since 1985 with the American Academy of Dermatology, the International Society of Dermatology, and the New York County Medical Society. Doctor Jaliman has been a media spokesperson for the American Academy of Dermatology since 1992. She was also a member of the American Cancer Society's Public Information Committee for many years.
Doctor Jaliman provided a dermatological perspective to the top-level managers at Elizabeth Arden. She co-taught a special intensive one-day course on Chemical Rejuvenation of the Face under the auspices of the New York Regional Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She gave a lecture on cosmetic dermatology to the staff of The New York Times as part of their "Wellness" series. Dr. Jaliman participated in The New York Times Health Fair as well as The New York Times Skin Cancer Screening, which was sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Dr. Jaliman was one of the three doctors participating in the Noxzema-Seventeen Magazine Skin Care Symposium as well.
The Manhattan, New York dermatologist was the spokesperson in two educational videos on skin care sponsored by Ortho Pharmaceutical Corporation. She was the skincare expert for Proctor & Gamble's beauty website, Reflect.com, and helped them develop over seven hundred new products. She has also been the dermatologic consultant for Norelco, aiding in launching their hair removal product, Santinelle. Dr. Jaliman was also the spokesperson for SmithKlein Beecham's new non-prescription cold sore cream, Abreva and helped launch a new line of sunscreens for Banana Boat.
The NYC dermatologist's articles have appeared in numerous scientific journals and she co-authored a chapter in a textbook on dermatology. Dr. Jaliman has made numerous television appearances on CNN, Primetime Live, 20/20, Dateline NBC, CBS News, News 4 New York, NBC "Weekend Today in New York," Fox News and Eyewitness News. She has also appeared on MTV's "House of Style," Lifetime, Oxygen, The Discovery Channel, and "Face Value" on BBC. Dr. Jaliman was given the honor to be chosen as the first dermatological spokesperson to appear on the debut show "Getting Healthy" on the Food Network.
In addition, Dr. Jaliman has been featured in the Time magazine cover story, "The Laser Fix: Light Makes Right". She is considered to be one of the most authoritative sources in dermatology and has been quoted extensively in Newsweek, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Allure, Elle, InStyle, O Magazine, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Mademoiselle, Lucky, Redbook, Shape, Seventeen, YM, Health, Parents, McCall's, Women's Day, More Magazine, Cosmo Girl, Fitness, Ladies Home Journal, Prevention, The New York Times, The New York Times Magazine, The New York Post, The New York Daily News and Newsday. Most recently Dr. Jaliman was the featured expert in InStyle's 2001 "Beauty Makeover" issue in which she evaluated the latest "state-of-the-art" cosmetic procedures including lasers, injectables and peels.
